  5. What are DirectAds ?
  6.  
  7. They are messages sent DIRECTLY to your computer. 
  8. They are not email messages or JavaScript through your browser.
  9. They use a utility built into Windows called Messenger Service 
  10. They are "completely anonymous and virtually untraceable" 
  11. and can pop up on your computer screen at any time.

  16. To Stop DirectAds from Appearing on your computer
  17. just Click 'Push Here to Stop Ads'
  18.  
  19. Then Click 'Apply/Minimize'
  20.  
  21. That's it your done. Blocker will then be minimized to your
  22. system tray. (near your clock)

  25. You can change your settings or exit Blocker by right clicking the tray icon.
  26. (exiting saves room in your tray but remembers your settings)

  28. Also clicking the [x] at the top of the program will
  29. remember your settings but Blocker will not appear in your system tray.
  30. If you want to make changes again you must go to the CoffeeCup Software
  31. program group and run Blocker from there.

  35. Windows 95/98/ME users do not have the 'Messenger Service Startup Type' options
  36. This is because Messenger was not integrated with Win95/98/ME to run when your
  37. computer first started. These choices are grayed out and are not important. 
  38. Just Click 'Stop Messenger Service' and you are done.

  41. Windows 2000/XP/NT users are very affected by Messenger and the Ads
  42. that can result. You have options on how Messenger which is integrated into
  43. your operating system will be treated from now on.

  45. Automatic - Starts the Messenger service every time your computer is turned on making
  46. you vulnerable to ads. (you probably don't want this option)
  47.  
  48. Manual - Starts Messenger only when you want to start it by hand or by another service. 
  49. (not a good idea but an option)
  50.  
  51. Disabled - This means completely. Nothing can turn it on or off except you.
  52. (highly recommended setting)
